The seventh game, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, was the first game in the series to be released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles.

The Need for Speed series is set in the United States, Australia, and the fictional city of Fairburn, the fictional city of Metro City, and the fictional city of Fairhaven in Need for Speed: Most Wanted, and the fictional city of Lake and surrounding areas in Need for Speed: Underground. Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Need for Speed Most Wanted is the first installment of the Need for Speed video game series. It was released in November 2009 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PlayStation Portable.

The game features an open-world environment, tracks based on real racing circuits, and police chases by moving traffic cars. The long-awaited sequel to the series has finally hit the shelves and the game is a pretty solid addition to the series. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2

With Hot Pursuit 2, EA took a shot at getting the cops on the right side of the law by offering up a more realistic, grittier take on the action. It was certainly a step in the right direction, with plenty of standout features, but ultimately felt like a bit of a letdown. 

It was a real shame, as Hot Pursuit 2 was a game that could have been the start of something new and exciting for the series and instead fell victim to EA’s mishandling of the license and the desire to milk its cash cow. Hot Pursuit 2’s visuals were certainly more than a little dated, with a sense of style and polish that seemed to have been discarded in favor of a rush to market, and a general sense of scale that felt out of place in the open-world setting. The police were more functional, less like cartoon characters, and the cars were a little too mundane. However, Hot Pursuit 2 offered a fairly.

Need For Speed: Shift

One of the best of the bunch, Need For Speed: Shift is a beautiful game that gives players a proper sense of speed and a ton of fun. The open-world tracks are gorgeous, especially in a PlayStation 3 version that supports 1080p. The atmosphere and the driving experience are excellent, with an abundance of traffic and opportunities to really push your car’s limits. And it’s not just about racing against other cars; the cops have their own AI to contend with and chasing them through traffic is an exhilarating and sometimes terrifying experience. Need For Speed: Shift is a real winner and the first game that fully embraced the arcade racing formula.

 It’s also the game that gave Need For Speed a truly great sense of purpose, with real-world driving and racing events used instead on the track, with both online and offline competition options, and a series of high-profile celebrity drivers such as Ryan Newman, Scott Speed, and Ken Block in tow. With its crisp and fast visuals, a driving experience that comes alive on the PS2 thanks to a combination of racing in real-time and a slick upgrade system, and a roster of real-world racing races including the Indianapolis 500 and the Nürburgring 24, there were few games.

Need For Speed: Underground

When it comes to Need For Speed titles, the series’ penchant for great driving thrills and immersive worlds always makes for a winner. Underground builds on the already strong foundations laid by Underground 2 and Carbon to create a fun, challenging, and compelling racer that features a fresh new look and a number of changes for the better. 

When it comes to cars, Underground has a wide range of customization options and all-new vehicles, which all come with the ability to change their wheels and other parts. There are also numerous events and challenges to complete, and the events and challenges are no less challenging than the ones in Underground 2. In addition, players can also build and customize their own tracks and even race them in online events. The physics-based driving feels as good as it looks and feels just as polished as the previous Underground games, making it one of the most impressive racing games of the year.

Need For Speed: Underground 2

A direct sequel of sorts to the original Underground game and a solid return to action-racing fare, Underground 2 sees Black Rock City given a much higher graphical sheen in stark contrast to previous games. It also improves an online mode made more important with the inclusion of both private and public events, as well as a multiplayer mode. Need for Speed Rivals

With the last couple of years in the spotlight, Need for Speed has begun to feel like a big tent, encompassing not only street racing, but also cop chases, online play, and drifting. 

The one thing that’s missing, however, is a true racing game, something that has been sorely lacking since the original Hot Pursuit. Well, Rivals delivers the best of both worlds, with a full racing mode and a full arcade-style racing game, featuring a handful of fun-to-drive cars, diverse city environments, and a variety of challenging events to enjoy. Need for Speed Heat may not be as well-received as its predecessor, but the first in the series to be developed by Criterion Games, it nonetheless is a worthy entry into the series. 

Set in a fictionalized version of Los Angeles, Heat stars Tobey Marshall, a hustler, and driver with a penchant for hot-rodding. Tapping into the high-octane energy of the street, Marshall leads the charge in the annual Need for Speed championship, pulling off daring maneuvers and quick escapes to win races and earn the respect of his rivals. Heat’s game mechanics are simple, but that’s not to say that they’re unintelligent or fail to challenge players, making Heat one of the most fun NFS games of all time. As a driver, players will need to be mindful of their opponents and weather conditions. The core of the game is the ability to execute smooth and precise drifts to take down the opposition.
